PATI FREITAS,
Liturgy Planning Committee Representative (925) 426-6794 chatipati@comcast.net CCOP's Liturgy Planning Committee’s mission is to enhance the spiritual life of our parish through preparation and coordination of its liturgical celebrations (e.g., Sunday liturgies, Sacred Triduum, Holy Days of Obligation, devotions, blessings, Communion Services, etc.). This Committee of Parish volunteers maintains a current understanding of the Church's liturgical documents and instructions from the U. S. Bishops through self-guided study, group study, workshops and liturgical conferences. We regularly make presentations to the Parish at large on the meaning of the Church’s worship and how ritual is celebrated in our community. The Committee coordinates or provides liturgical guidance and support to the Liturgical Arts and Environment sub-committee, Youth Liturgy Committee and Children's/Family Liturgy Committee. Additionally, the Committee recruits, trains, and schedules liturgical ministers (i.e., Lectors, Head Eucharistic Ministers, Extraordinary MInisters of Holy Communion, Ushers, Greeters, and Altar Servers). The Liturgy Planning Committee meets at 7:30 pm on the first and third Mondays of each month in Room C at St. Elizabeth Seton Church. A member of the Liturgy
Planning Committee sits on the Parish Council each year. This year Pati
Freitas will represent the committee. [top] (925) 484-1143 ext. 115, FAX (925) 484-1184 Office jimsilvaCCOP@gmail.com What's in a name? Small means roughly 8-12 adults or 4-6 families, meeting usually in one another's homes. Christian means we help each other grow in the four essentials of our faith: community, prayer, study, and outreach. Community means we we get to know each other well and become like family to one another. Our parish has 2 kinds of Small Christian Communities (SCC's): adult groups and family groups. Jim Silva, Director of Adult Formation, coordinates the adult SCC's. Anna Horen, coordinates the family SCC's, which are known as Intergenerational Faith Communities (IFC's). Participation in IFC's is through the parish Faith Formation program. SCC's are diverse. At various times, we have had SCC's composed of neighbors, families, moms and tots, gays and lesbians, cursillo members, singles, individuals in 12-step recovery, women only, men only, couples, etc. All are welcome! Jim Silva, our Adult
Formation Director, sums up the secret of SCC's: Contact: Jim Silva at St. Elizabeth Seton, 474-2783 and/or Anna Horen at St. Augustine, 846-3531, our Youth Faith Formation Director. [top]
