Baptisms

Baptisms take place once a month as a community experience, usually on the 4th Sunday of the month. Parents must take pre-Baptism classes on two Sunday evenings before the Baptism.

Call the Rectory, 846-4489, to arrange a personal interview with one of the priests or deacons prior to this.

Eucharistic Ministers to the Homebound

Eucharistic Ministers trained in the ministry bring Holy Communion to:

  • Patients in ValleyCare Medical Center; [Note: It is required by law that patients let the admitting clerk know that they wish to have a visit from their parish in order for us to visit them].
  • Residents of Group Homes: Assisted Living, Board and Care, and Skilled Nursing/Convalescent Facilities.
  • Parishioners confined to their own homes.

Please contact Sister Patricia Walsh, O.P., (925) 484-3578, ext. 110.

Weddings

In order to allow sufficient time to carry out the various steps of the marriage preparation program, it is necessary for a couple to contact the rectory at St. Augustine as soon as they make the decision to marry, and at least six months before the anticipated time of their wedding.

A parish priest or deacon will meet with the couple to discuss issues related to their future married life, identified through the couple's pre-marital inventory called FOCCUS. The couple then attends a six-week progr a.m. entitled Evenings for the Engaged with other engaged couples under the guidance of a trained husband-and-wife team from CCOP.

The priest or deacon, together with the wedding coordinators, help the couple plan the wedding ceremony. Participation in the marriage preparation program is a requirement for all couples entering marriage. Please call the Rectory for an interview, 846-4489.

Also, see Marriage within the Sacramental Rites Web page.
