Year Two First Eucharist Preparation During a Pandemic

Things are certainly different this year in Faith Formation, which I’m sure comes as no surprise to you, as you juggle supervising your children’s at home learning for school.

One of those differences, is that you parents will be preparing your children for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist. There will be a once a month Zoom class for lesson review, but the rest will be done by you. We always say that parents are the primary catechists for their children. Well that is certainly true this year!
 
There are two things I need to make you aware of before you begin.

​Sign Up for “Formed.Org” - Fr. Mark has described this website as “Netflix for Catholics” and our parish is providing it free to us! There are six short (about 4 minutes each) videos about Reconciliation that I want you and your child to watch together. They are indicated on your lesson calendar but be aware – you are not watching the videos in numerical order, so be sure to check your calendar to see which video you are supposed to watch when.

Here are the instructions to sign-up:
  • Visit FORMED.ORG
  • Click Sign-Up
  • Select “Belong to a Parish or Organization”
  • Find Catholic Community of Pleasanton by parish name, address or zip code
  • Enter your name and email address – and you’re in!

Once you are signed up, when it’s time to watch a video, here is what you do:
  • Go to FORMED.ORG and sign in
  • Select “Programs”
  • Under Programs, select “Youth Programs”
  • Under Youth Programs, select “Signs of Grace”
  • You will see seven numbered videos.
  • Select the video that you are supposed to watch for that lesson and watch with your child.
