MedShare is a national organization whose mission is to provide medical supplies for hospitals and clinics, primarily in Third World countries, for only the cost of shipping.  This is possible because, in addition to donations, MedShare contracts with local hospitals to obtain new medical supplies, often still in their sterile packaging, that cannot be used and which would otherwise be sent to a landfill. Using volunteers to sort and package the medical supplies, MedShare makes its inventory available on its web site, enabling hospitals to order the items they need and arrange for shipment. MedShare also responds to needs resulting from natural disasters around the world and supplies medical missions responding to outbreaks of diseases. 

The Social Justice and Outreach Committee organizes groups of CCOP volunteers to sort and package medical supplies at the facility in San Leandro on several Saturday mornings throughout the year. No prior experience or medical knowledge is required. Families are encouraged to participate together, and everyone over the age of 10 is welcome.
