Youth Suicide Prevention: What Parents Need To Know
Tuesday, August 1st 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. St. Augustine Church This is an interactive workshop that will help parents understand suicide and suicidal behavior in their child. It is geared for parents of middle and high school aged children. The workshop helps parents explore their own attitudes about suicide and teaches them to recognize warning signs that they may notice in their child. It will also discuss risk factors and protective factors. The workshop will also help the parents develop a Safety Plan for their child. All parents will leave with information on available resources in the community and the 24-hour crisis line. |
For Teens
Teens For Life: Workshop for Middle and High School Teens
Tuesday, August 1st 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. St. Augustine Hall Did you know within a typical high school classroom, it is likely that 3 students (1 boy and 2 girls) have made a suicide attempt within the past year. Suicide ranks as the 2nd leading cause of death for teens. Every 2 hours and 7 minutes, a person under the age of 25 completes suicide. Learn how you can help. Learn how to recognize and help a friend who may be experiencing depression and the warning signs that indicate a person may be at risk for suicide. This workshop is an interactive workshop for teens. |
