Liturgy Planning Committee
CCOP's Liturgy Planning Committee’s mission is to enhance the spiritual life of our parish through preparation and coordination of its liturgical celebrations (e.g., Sunday liturgies, Sacred Triduum, Holy Days of Obligation, devotions, blessings, Communion Services, etc.). This Committee of Parish volunteers maintains a current understanding of the Church's liturgical documents and instructions from the U. S. Bishops through self-guided study, group study, workshops and liturgical conferences. We regularly make presentations to the Parish at large on the meaning of the Church’s worship and how ritual is celebrated in our community. The Committee coordinates or provides liturgical guidance and support to the Liturgical Arts and Environment sub-committee, and the Youth and Family Liturgy sub-committee. Additionally, the Committee recruits, trains, and schedules liturgical ministers (i.e., Lectors, Head Eucharistic Ministers, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Ushers, Greeters, and Altar Servers). The Liturgy Planning Committee meets at 7:30 pm on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in the Cry Room at St. Elizabeth Seton Church. A member of the Liturgy Planning Committee sits on the Parish Council each year. This year Deacon Gary Wortham will represent the committee. A member of the committee is assigned to each Mass on weekends. Contact: Deacon Gary Wortham 925.474.2785 or email at [email protected]. |
Liturgical Environment Committee
The Liturgical Environment is a sub-committee of CCOP's Liturgy Planning Committee whose purpose is to enhance our worship spaces. This group of very dedicated volunteers visualize, create, and implement the environmental decor so that it reflects the ever changing liturgical seasons and, as such, enhances our prayer experience. This ministry is available for all Parishioners, regardless of artistic "ability" since everyone has something that they can contribute! The responsibilities of this sub-committee include: Art design, bulletin board decoration, candle care, floral design/maintenance and banner creation and maintenance. Additionally, we're always looking for people who are skilled at ironing and sewing. The Liturgical Arts and Environment sub-committee meets at 7:30 pm on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month. Come! Help us make the Catholic Community of Pleasanton a beautiful place to worship. Contact: Deacon Gary Wortham 925.474.2785 or email at [email protected]. |
