The Church encourages engaged couples to focus on preparing for a strong, lifelong, spirit-filled marriage and the responsibilities and challenges that they will face. CCOP offers two marriage prep programs – a 6 week long weekly session with a small group of other engaged couples and a facilitating couple, and a weekend program. The purpose of these programs is to help couples talk about issues that may not have surfaced during dating, such as family of origin, conflict resolution, communication, finances, raising children and gender roles. The programs also provide proven strategies for overcoming tough times. These marriage preparation programs are facilitated by married couples from CCOP who share stories of the successes and struggles of their marriages. The main focus of both programs, however, is to provide time for couples to privately reflect on and discuss issues that are presented.
